It’s not too late to join the PTA! Even if you aren’t able to volunteer your time, your $10 membership fee goes toward making so many exciting events possible, like movie night, the family dance, and International Night! You can join on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/dles.pta) or website (www.dles.hcpss.org/support), and each student in your family will receive ten Owl Feathers when you join.

Parent Volunteers are needed!

Our PTA sponsored book fair will take place in the Media Center from 1:00pm to 7:30pm during parent/teacher conferences on November 19th and November 20th.

Here is the volunteer sign up link:

Parent volunteers are essential to the success of a book fair, so thank you for choosing to give some of your valuable time!

Here is your opportunity to speak directly with members of the Howard County Board of Education on Saturday, October 13th from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Ducketts Lane ES.

It is time to update your child's emergency contact information in HCPSS Connect!

Your Family file needs to be updated every school year.  Having this information is critical to us as soon as the first day of school.  The Family File MUST be updated before your student can go on a field trip.  Several grade levels are planning trips in October and November.  HCPSS uses Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect and selecting the Family File tab and then clicking on Family File.

Parents who have forgotten their login credentials for Family File may click the “Forgot Password” link on the sign in page. If you need additional assistance, please fill out this Connect Help Form.  Please complete the Family File through HCPSS Connect as soon as possible!

DLES International Day is Coming!

Take a trip around the world in one fun-filled, delicious afternoon!  Join us Saturday, November 3rd from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. as we celebrate our community’s diversity through food, traditional dress, displays, artifacts, and stage performances from the many countries our DLES families represent.

If your family would like to host a table to represent your country of origin and culture, please email Erin Martin Nelson at erin.m.nelson@gmail.com no later than October 26th with the information listed below.

This is a not-to-be-missed event and we look forward to seeing you all there!

*Please note there is a very limited amount of outlets so please bring hot food in containers that will keep it warm without the use of a plug.  A link for a Sign-Up Genius for the stage performances will be emailed separately. Please note that each stage performance is 2 minutes long to allow ample time for everyone who wishes to participate to do so. We will kick off our event with the stage performances at 11:00 a.m. followed by “traveling around the world” and visiting the various tables. Set up will begin at 10:00 a.m. and we encourage you to get there early to ensure proper set up of your table!  Please bring any cups, bowls, plates, napkins, utensils, etc. you will need to serve food. We will have a limited supply of extras.
