Parent Volunteers are needed!

Hello, Parents & Guardians!

It is hard to believe, but Parent/Teacher Conference is right around the corner! On Tuesday, November 20th, our PTA will be hosting a dinner for DLES teachers. It’s a long day for our teachers and staff and we would love to show our appreciation through donated food and beverages from our DLES families.

We are looking for donations of salad, and beverages that teachers can bring back to their classrooms to enjoy in between their conferences.

Simply go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A4CA4AD2DA5FF2-teacher1 and sign up for a donation of your choice, or contact PTA’s Hospitality Chair, Jamie Armstrong (jlee.armstrong@icloud.com). Your donations may be sent in with your child or dropped off at the school by you. Please clearly label your donation with “Conference Dinner” so that it ends up in the right spot.

We are so thankful to have such involved and wonderful parents & guardians who help Ducketts Lane Elementary School “grow strong together!”

Please contact Jamie Armstrong, at the above email address, with any questions.

Thank you!

Our PTA sponsored book fair will take place in the Media Center from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during parent/teacher conferences on November 19th and November 20th.

Here is the volunteer sign up link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0e48a8a82aabf85-volunteers

Parent volunteers are essential to the success of a book fair, so thank you for choosing to give some of your valuable time!

Attention Fifth graders!

Time to finalize your Battle of the Books teams and register!

Team registration is now open, but is closing tonight!  SPACE IS LIMITED. Registration will remain open until capacity is reached or until registration closes on November 2 at 11:59 p.m., whichever comes first.

To register, you need a team name, plus names and contact information for coaches and each of the five student members. Your team registration will only be accepted if you register five students.

Conferences will be taking place on November 19th, 20th and 21st.  Instructions on how to sign up for conferences on HCPSS Connect were sent home on November 1st in your child's Thursday folder.  The window to sign up for conferences will be open from November 1st until November 15th.

We need your help to make our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive the most successful one yet! Please bring in items between Monday, November 5th-and Friday, November 16th. There will be boxes in each grade level to place the items. The grade that brings in the most items will be rewarded with extra recess!

K, 1st, 2nd: Canned goods/non-perishables (peanut butter, jelly, cereal, rice, pasta, etc.)

3rd, 4th, 5th: Cold weather items (Gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, warm socks, etc.)

Don’t forget to join us on Saturday, November 17th for our Pancake Breakfast & Canned Food Drive!

Our lesson on Monday, November 12th will be our practice 5k.  It will take the entire lesson time to complete this awesome event. Please consider coming out to DLES and supporting the team and/or run alongside your GOTR if you plan on being her buddy runner at the season-end community 5k.  There will be a water station which we would love to have a parent volunteer help with so Ms. Alioto can run a portion of the event with all the girls. We will have a whistle start on the bus loop at 3:30 p.m. as soon as all buses have departed.  The rain date (if it is pouring) will be Wednesday, November 14th.

The 5k is coming up! Your GOTR member's registration is included in the program price. Please be sure your daughter's buddy runner registers for the race! If you do not have someone for your daughter to run with, let me know ASAP!

  • All buddy runners must register:

As part of our Caring Schools Outreach Program, we are inviting all of our DLES families to a free pancake breakfast on Saturday, November 17th from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. We are asking each family to please donate one canned good as their entrance fee.  Pancakes and milk will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Delivery/Pick Up: Monday, November 19th  1:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Please pick up your orders as soon as possible because they are frozen food items.  All profits will be utilized to purchase class t-shirts and yearbooks for all 5th grade students and to help decrease the cost of our field trip to Philadelphia.   The 5th grade team thanks you for your support!

It is time to update your child's emergency contact information in HCPSS Connect!

Your Family file needs to be updated every school year.  Having this information is critical to us as soon as the first day of school.  The Family File MUST be updated before your student can go on a field trip. Several grade levels are planning trips in November.  HCPSS uses Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect and selecting the Family File tab and then clicking on Family File.

Parents who have forgotten their login credentials for Family File may click the “Forgot Password” link on the sign in page. If you need additional assistance, please fill out this Connect Help Form.  Please complete the Family File through HCPSS Connect as soon as possible!
